SUSTAINABILITY
Sustainability, to Megawide, is about building
structures that last — cascading quality of life for
generations to come. With our focus on
strengthening our ESG initiatives, Megawide
has systems in place for overseeing its
environmental and social impacts, while it
maintains corporate governance standards that
enhance effective leadership.
Sustainability Framework
Megawide’s own
sustainability
framework is our
blueprint for synergizing
our business strategy
and sustainability goals.

Sustainability Structure
Sustainability-related strategies
and oversight are governed by
Megawide’s sustainability
governance structure composed
of the Sustainability Office and
the Megawide Foundation.

Foundation Framework
Everyone in Megawide has a role to play in
sustainability and corporate social
responsibility. Our Framework shows the
different levels of action that we take, from
the highest decision-making bodies in
Management to frontline employees
across our business units.

Environmental Performance
Materials
Megawide strictly follows local and global
regulations, such as the Philippine National
Standards (PNS), American Society for Testing and
Materials (ASTM), American National Standards
Institute (ANSI), American Concrete Institute (ACI),
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), American
Association of State Highway and Transportation
Officials (AASHTO), and the ISO standard related to
Quality, Environment, Safety, and Health.
Energy
Megawide is aware that construction and
engineering are energy-intensive activities, which is
why we strive to initiate energy-saving programs and
the greater use of renewable energy (RE) to minimize
our negative impacts. Proper energy management
also leads to effective cost management as our
energy conservation programs reduce operational
costs and generate savings.
Emissions
We understand the critical role that construction
and engineering companies play in reducing
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, especially in the
context of the collective action needed to make
change happen. As with our energy consumption
management, Megawide continues to look for ways
to minimize emissions and adopt RE.
Waste Management
Megawide’s waste management practices are
monitored by relevant regulatory bodies, including
the DENR and the Laguna Lake Development
Authority (LLDA). Compliance and waste reduction
efforts are necessary in order for the Group to
mitigate any harmful effects to human health as
well as to prevent land and water pollution.

Environmental Performance

Water and Effluents
Megawide’s businesses utilize water for operational
requirements. Managing water consumption through
proper treatment and disposal is a priority to prevent
water pollution, which could affect the health of
neighboring communities and aquatic environments.
As a shared resource, water is regularly managed
through conservation efforts.
Environmental Compliance
Megawide ensures that its operations are in
accordance with environmental laws, regulations, and
standards, both in the Philippines and internationally,
with the goal of establishing a high benchmark for
the local industry that meets
First-World standards.
Biodiversity
Construction and pollution go hand in hand and
Megawide’s activities can potentially disrupt
surrounding ecosystems and biodiversity. For this
reason, the Group is exploring biodiversityconservation efforts to allow such systems to thrive.

Social Performance
For Our People
Megawide ensures that employees receive training and
education to set them up for long-term success.
By providing opportunities for professional development,
employees can enhance their capabilities and acquire
new skills that enable them to make greater
contributions to the Group’s shared goals, at the same
time prevent dissatisfaction at work and increase
employees’ chances of growing professionally.
For Our Customers
Public infrastructure operations and construction
activities are exposed to and serve external clients and
customers. Maintaining safety and health protocols as
well as investing in the improvement of facilities and
services are of utmost importance to keep customers
safe, healthy, and satisfied.
For Our Communities
A comprehensive strategic planning across operations
can result in mutually-beneficial coexistence between
Megawide and local communities within its sites.
To promote this, Megawide ensures that it operates in compliance with local regulations and aims to optimize operational efficiency within its areas of activities, while developing various programs and initiatives that meet the needs of local communities.

For Our Suppliers
Engaging with homegrown businesses can create a
richer and more robust local supply chain. For this
reason, Megawide pursues a procurement strategy that
partners with local suppliers, vendors, and
subcontractors, especially within our project sites, to
enrich the surrounding businesses and contribute to
nation-building.
